We designed this voltage stabiliser as a direct replacement for the original voltage stabiliser circuit board (PCB) found in all Series 3 Land Rovers. Negative earth vehicles only.
Smith’s temperature and fuel gauges were designed to give an accurate reading with a maximum 10V input. If the voltage of your charge system fluctuates or is consistently high (typical of an alternator), then your gauges will be inaccurate.
Although Land Rover did not fit them to Series 1, 2, & 2a’s, we’ve found installing one certainly improves the accuracy of the connected gauges and makes adjusting them a far more reliable and simpler process.
Our part delivers a stable 10V (+-.04V) with ceramic capacitors on the input and output sides, and unlike the originals and aftermarket offerings, the output can be read with a standard digital multimeter.
We designed the part to be robust with a maximum input of 36V. It is also protected against reverse polarity, overtemperature, and overcurrent situations.
The part consists of the PCB only, and it will fit inside both aftermarket and original voltage stabiliser housings.
